**Hermann Schmitz** (Leipzig 1928 - Kiel 2021) is known as the founder of New Phenomenology and for his philosophy of the felt body (Leib) and atmospheres. Author of an ambitious and far reaching _System of Philosophy_ in ten volumes (1964-1980), he kept elaborating on his fundamental insights on atmospheres, feelings, space, felt body and consciousness in more than fifty volumes and many essays.
